CUSTOMARY LAND LAW OF THE DON COSSAKS

Abstract

The Don Cossaks’ customary law in the XVI-XIX centuries spread into many spheres of the intercourse regulation, whereas the land relations weren>t an exception. They appeared and developed according to the dominant socio-economic structure and political environment and reflected the reality of the underlying processes that characterized the entire social system of the Don Cossacks. The main source of the land relations regulation in the XVI-XVIII centuries was a custom as well as a precedent as a means of resolving incidents. In the XVIII-XIX centuries a normative legal act developed, the use of which was carried out by the Russian government.
