Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the preparation of the second codification of Soviet law, as well as theoretical discussions that have unfolded in legal science in connection with its implementation. Based on a study of a wide range of Soviet regulatory legal acts and archival data, the author identified the subjects of codification, their powers, as well as the main directions of codification activity in the period 1958 1984. The study proved that, in the absence of a work plan, the success of codification activity was largely due to the achievements of theorists of Soviet law, who developed the system of codified acts, the main stages of codification works and their methodology.
