Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of the potential of civil society to counter corruption practices in the Russian society. Corruption is shown as a factor that destroys economic security. The author proves that the potential of civil society in this capacity can be measured on the basis of two social indicators: trust in the government and civic engagement. It is possible to measure the degree of confidence in the government through opinion polls, turnout, protest activity. As for civil activity, this indicator is considered as two aspects: 1) subjective readiness to cooperate with the authorities, which, in fact, becomes a psychological motive for active activity; 2) the existence of an institutional system within which the structural organization of civil activity takes place.
